Could be a variation on one of the Nigerian 419 scams. They send these out via emails; I get them quite often. They get in contact with you saying that they want to buy stuff from your web site. Then, they ask you for an item and price list as well as your web site URL! Does not compute! They email you wanting to buy stuff from your site and then ask you what your site is!
The people who get suckered into this end up getting involved in a sophisticated dodgy cheque scam.
Once all the nonsense in-between is sorted out and the dollar signs start appearing: the scammer will offer to send more money (in the form of a cheque) than what your items are worth, by a considerable amount.
Example: you're selling stuff for $100, they'll send you a cheque for $10,000, ask you to keep $2,500 (for your trouble), and send the other $7,400 back to him.
Once you've done that, and the cheque shows up as a dodgy, you, as the depositer are liable for a criminal offense, while the scammer gets away.
