Bored AstroImager with New Toys
The "Rain Gods" have certainly been angered by some recent purchases in SEQ - I'm a guilty party, having taken delivery of a QSI583wsg this week.
All I've been able to do thus far is to watch the filter wheel spin around and the shutter open and close...
Tonight I setup all of the gear to see if everything would talk together with Maxim. Happy to report the QSI, autoguider, mount controller & focuser all played nicely together under Win 7. The fact that I was excited to see the focuser move in and out in response to a mouse click is testament as to how bored I really am.
As the photo shows, the jumble of cables is ridiculous. The "umbilical cord" is still in it's first iteration, being setup for my 350D. Maybe I can use the wet weekend to pull that apart in anticipation of being able to put the new camera onto the telescope next weekend.
The red box normally sits under the tripod and holds the USB hub & various power-supplies. I've been working towards setting everything up to run on 12V - bring on some truly dark skies.
