Can I just interrupt here, this was a mount designed by the workshop guys and myself over 25years ago when motor driven EQ mounts cost the earth.Who said if you design a horse by committee,you end up with a camel!The decision to use adjustable tapered roller bearings was unanimous,no detectable axial or radial slack (wobble).
Even then we had aperture fever hence the ability to adequately hold a 16" Newtonian.
