When we arrived in Australia by boat in 1953, yes we were boat people, and it cost my parents three and a half thousand pounds to get from Indonesia to Australia. The wharfies organised a truck driver to take us and our meagre belongings to find a place to stay. This bloke drove us all over the place until we found somewhere to stay. He would not accept any payment. My parents looked at each other and said we have come to the best country when the ordinary person helps his fellow man for no payment. My parents arrived in Australia with three kids and one on the way and ten quid.
We have done very well since then.
Do not let this attitude change!
This song is a celebration of that attitude.
