Ohh yes.. because its a schmidt things maybe a little dull and magnified but yes. my little 6" newt i often enjoy the brighter "novice" objects orion, lagoon, andromeda etc.. if you get a wedge or a EQ you can start imaging them as enjoy them more. 8" will be fine for that as even 30 seconds of exposure brings them alive a go to EQ will allow for a lot more. you will find your self with a camera attached to your scope 100% of the time
