Hi Trevor. Maybe it is only lower in contrast as it moves away from the Central Meridian and approaches the limb? I think that a dulling of features as they move to the east of CM can also be seen in your animation of the 24th - the contrast looks highest when features are central or on western side of the CM ie, a drop in contrast to the east of CM may simply indicate that the storm surface has lower effective reflectivity at some combinations of illumination/reflection angle than others. This is probably quite reasonable if it is composed of ice crystals aligned by a jetstream. Regards Ray
