Saturn, 01/12/2005

Well conditions weren't ideal, fighting high hazy cloud the entire time meant the gain was cranked up high, and many times the image dimmed to blackness as the haze got thicker in parts.

Not only that, but the seeing was pretty ordinary.

But it had been 2 weeks since I'd last had the telescope out as the weather has just been terrible around Sydney lately, so I had to persist even though it wasn't much fun.

But I got an image anyway. Here's Saturn from this morning.

Gain was about 65%, gamma about 35%, shutter 1/25s, 10fps.

The top image is about 300 frames stacked, and the bottom was about 1100 frames stack (2 different avi's). Processed in registax, astraimage, neatimage and finally photoshop. They were very grainy due to the high gain so I used some photoshop filters to make them look smoother.
