You are perfectly entitled to your opinion about what you do and don't prefer in an astronomy magazine and I'm wouldn't quibble with you for one moment about that. Similarly, I'm not going to pass any comment whatsoever on other publications.

But, I'd contend that AS&T publishes a lot of amateur images and a great many of them are by Australians. I regularly have Australian "amateur" images as part of my columns (and I don't mean to demean their quality by calling them "amateur"). IIS is one of my best and most used resources for locating images for my columns. Doug Braidwood (Hagar) (post 16 -- the one above yours) had one of Corona Australis in my column last year for starters.

A very substantial majority of the images in AS&T gallery section are by Australian & New Zealand amateurs. Perhaps ironically, the superb image you use for your avatar is reproduced on p91 in the current issue (Feb/March 2011).
