Gigabit/USB Hub to control CCD, guidecam etc.
Interesting experiment (thanks to Brundah1) in getting data to an imaging/guiding laptop. I have secured a good quality Gigabit/hub that takes 5 USB 2.0 devices input and sends data over Cat5 cable back to the laptop - and anywhere else on the same network. Since I work in a fixed location with power on tap, I am able to locate the hub right at the mount. I have managed to get the hub to talk to the USB devices (including storage and cameras) and the laptop - took a bit of fiddling with the IP address used by the ethernet port on the laptop but now it's sorted and I'm looking forward to connecting up the cameras as well. I wonder if anyone else has had experience with this sort of arrangement?
