Thanks very much Peter!!
The rig is performing very nicely now after all the purchases from last year with up grading the detector. Although as newts go, there's always some tinkering

An hour south east from Ceduna but we definitely can have beautiful clear nights at times, autumn and winter generally, but as always, there is a trade off... putting up with summer conditions where you don't see the mercury go below 40*C during the day for a week and then the sea breeze blusters in late afternoon carrying with it dust. And when the swells up, it puts fine particles up in the air... which comes inland.
But hey, not this summer.
La Nina while a bit of a curse to the eastern sea board, has kept the temperatures down and in between the storms and cloud, the seeing has been quite reasonable.
So I've been on a rediscovery of Orion's treasures with the new ccd. Must say, I'm enjoying myself, generally summer can be a right off!

Hope the weather gets better your end....
Look forward to see what new gear you're using and the results.

Cheers Peter
