If you still want a new unit, (good on you Ron for the spares) do a search on ebay.com.au for "wireless weather station". Units are available for ~$115 and with solar power for the outdoor-unit. - WA 2081 (No more climbing onto the roof to change the battery.) The WH2081 (battery powered) is $10 cheaper.
Incidentally, I do find with my WH1081 unit that, the rainfall measure varies, sometimes quite considerably, from what I measure in the "real" rain-gauge.
Has anyone else done comparisons with other conventional instruments?
