Hi Ian
In the absence of replies to your question regarding DSI so perhaps the following may be of use to you. I have installed Meade DSIs on a few occasions and I sometimes have had trouble making it "stick" to the correct driver. Maybe you can try the following (if not already done so).
1.After connecting your DSI go into Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Imaging Devices. You should see Meade DSI as one of the Imaging Devices - go into this and double click on Driver then Driver details. You should see the correct DSI driver as C:\Windows\system 32\Drivers\DsiUsb.sys.
If this is correct it doesn't look that you have a driver problem. However,
I have had problem where having installed the correct DSI driver Windows decides it has a better one and replaces it. This new Windows default driver will not work with the Mead Envisage program. If this is the case track down this default driver in system 32 and rename it (I usually call it "old----" in case I need to retrieve it one day). Then reinstall the correct DSI driver in Device Manager etc as above.
2. Another problem with DSIs is that they are a bit power hungry so put it on a computer hub port which does not have anything on the second port (PCs usually have two ports per hub). By the way I assume you are using a USB2 port. Although the DSIs will connect to a USB1 port the operation is useless.
3. Also you mention a USB Hub which may imply that you are connecting to a multi port hub connected to a single PC USB port. Although I have not tried this with a DSI I know that some devices do not like hubs so it is best to connect the DSI directly to your PC as in above 2.
Hope this helps - let me know how you get on.
Cheers Peter
