The field curvature is due to the zoom lens. I don't think zooming in will help. Stopping down might, but then you will lose exposure.
The best solution is go on ebay and get a 2nd hand Pentax wide angle or standard fixed focal length lens. You will get better quality and greater exposure.
Is that the Crab Nebula in the bottom left?
