Self Portrait - Practicing with natural Light

Had a bit of a practice again today with natural light..(Too cheap to buy studio lighting or even strobist....)

I was quite happy with the light coming in through the curtains in the darkened room. I used a table-lamp on the right to fill, but I actually preferred it without it so I took it away. A bit more dramatic I think.

The hard part was focusing. I sat in position, then put some objects and cushions in place where I thought my eye level was, then focused and returned to sit. It took a bit of trial and error, but I think I got the eyes in focus well enough.

I think I will have to get some volunteers in to model for me while I stuff around and experiment...much easier..

I remember not so long ago I thought photographing people was dull...now, I find it challenging and heaps fun!
