I only wish I saw that much detail before wavelets - looks pretty damn good to me.
Sounds like a slight case of over-exposure in the initial capture. Like Mike, I usually set the gain, exposure etc so light indicator in K3CCD is running around 150 or even lower which will look quite dull on the screen.
