Viewing nights are a little difficult to join up at Carey. However don't be put off because you can still go to them. If you have access to electronic funds transfer through your bank you can now join up over the net. Or you could go to a monthly meeting and join up there. Nothing is too hard.
Don't be scared about being a total beginner; we all started in the same place. ASSA offers classes which cater for new people in astronomy right before the main lecture at monthly meetings. I thoroughly encourage you to attend these. The lectures are good and very informative. The next one will be in February on the date listed at the website.
