We have both '02 and 2010 Mazda MX5's, the boot space is what is to be expected from a 'Sports car', carefully packed soft luggage will keep you away from home for a week, there is little room for "stuff" in the cabin but unlike a lot of convertibles on the market today the roof does not intrude into the boot space. Go and try a few on and remember that the specs that manufacturers provide on boot space are air volume and not practical space.
