Yes the scalloping does seem to create the wells for the reviving SEB. Interesting stuff really.
Thanks Paul, the seeing here through twilight looked reasonable and improved for about half an hour but then deteriorated, not to the degree where it looked flag like but enough to take out the fine detail that I was trying to capture. With the current weather systems in the region I really didn't expect much and was lucky to to get one reasonable RGB.

In the wash up of the analysis of this SEB revival it will be interesting to see if there can be some scientific connection drawn between the westward retrograding progress of the SEB(S) spots and this pre existing pattern that they seem to be following.
