Some people go stupid on ebay and pay prices well over market value (this applies particularly to camera gear), I don't buy much on ebay, usually buy it now stuff, for example I bought a Manfrotto fluid head for much less than any online proce I could find, the same applies for my Colorminki, hundreds of dollars under the best online price I could find in OZ.
There are still bargains to be had, you just need to be aware of the value of the product you're bidding on and don't overdo it.
