Full moon at Tea Tree Flat

Hi,

Here's a little report then, which features no great milestones, just a sort of filler to say what has been happening to me.

Last weekend I went with a couple of interested friends to Tea Tree Flat, at the foot of the Wollemi Wilderness, off the Capertee Valley

The weather on Sat 20th Nov was beautiful, with promise of a clear night. The site is a farmhouse between 2 steep escarpments, which I was hoping would shield us a bit from the moon. It was not to be, as it came up over the top of the escarpment and seriously washed out any thought of faint objects.

Still, I was able to show my friends a grand view of Jupiter, Uranus (which none of us had previously seen), the usual brighter suspects like 47 Tuc, and a spectacular pass by the ISS. I had warned my companions to get their opera glasses out for that, and they were very chuffed.

I like this site because it has an almost unobstructed view from SW to NW, so better luck next time with better timing.

Cheers
