Yes I made sure my policy has lightning strike cover.
We have very sensitive equipment on the backup generators which start them automatically in failures and if they blow it's $1000's to replace.

With the computer equipment I don't take any chances, unplug everything including modems and phones. Just have to remember to plug back in after or you'll miss the calls.
