To give you an example of how stupid that movie was, the first 5min of the movie pass on with those lights falling off the sky then the director must have realised 'oh wait! we haven't introduced any of the characters!' so backflash 24h before the event introducing the 5, 6'ish characters for a good 10min. Then you link back to now and watch the first 5min again to get into the flow of the
story.
There are so many original ideas in the plot. They nuke the ship but it doesn't destroy it (ID4). The aliens drive those exo-skeleton creatures (ID4 again). They have alien ships dogfights with USAF (did I say ID4?) The inside of the ship looks like a Matrix set, the flying creatures are clones of the Matrix sentinels (squiddies) and the walking ones are a rip off of war of the world. I guess they were on a budget and reused a lot of the 3D models?
Oh, and the aliens feed on brains, like the good o'le zombies. Very original again

. The only good thing would be CGI which are very well done but the hero's mate is the guy from scrubs walking around with a hand gun shooting at 5 storey high aliens !? C'mon!
