If memory serves me correctly, the U.N. does not take into account intangibles such as environmental welbeing when doing this calculation... which of course makes it meaningless.
Recent events in the world have demonstarted one thing very clearly; the U.N. is a complete out-of-touch farce, a repeat of the equally usless "League of Nations"
If you want a real indicator of where it is good to live, try Bhutan's concept of G.D.H., a far better indicator that G.D.P.
