Is the wedding/reception indoors or outdoors?
Your kit lenses will be far too slow for indoors -- unless you resort to high ISO-shooting, but, then you'll have to contend with insane amounts of noise.
My suggestion would be to hire a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM and, perhaps a 24-70mm f/2.8L USM.
The 70-200mm will give you plenty of reach for distant shots as well as flattering portraits, and, the 24-70mm will give you the wide angle environmental shots.
