Velocity seemed to be too low to be a real meteor or even space junk.Looked like a hollywood graphic in the sky and then an ordinary explosion on the ground.
I hate to say this but even the bits of Columbia did not explode on impact.
Objects entering the Earths atmosphere do most of their light and smoke show at high altitude.When and if they hit the ground they should be down to terminal velocity for the size shape and density of the remaining object.If they are not down to terminal velocity if you were anywhere close ,it would be the last thing you ever saw.The lump of metal debris landing some seconds after impact is the other giveaway.Just my two bobs worth.
All the same though if it is real where are the fragments.They sell on the open market for very high prices.
