here is today's work:
1) I found the height needed to clear the az encoder is 20mm. I used strips of 20 mm plywood screwed to the rocker board and bolted it with the old bolts. I then reassembled the whole thing, so for the most part the az motor/encoder is done.
2) I drilled and taped the alt belt wheel and started wiring the brain. Here is the photos
