It's not quite that simple. The US dealers get better discounts due to volume. The manufacturers do things like ship to Au via the US so you effectively pay for two lots of shipping. The local guys have to make some profit.
I try to buy locally, but sometimes the US prices are just too good to pass up. OPT got some of my money yesterday.
