Thanks Mario. It's always good to get feedback. Given the wet winter, and only 2 opportunities to AP M8 has taken a hiding.
Once all the lights (35 in total) from 2 nights (3 weeks apart) were combined, the SNR started to show significant improvement. The other thing was using ACDNR (noise reduction) with luminance mask in Pixinsight after the first non-linear stretch. I found that it solved any clipping problems that I'd been having with this set of images.
All in all, much easier to deal with. Generally, once you get used to the interface and Pixinsight way of doing things, and I have a long way to go yet, it's all so much easier.
Next is those Pillars of Creation that you've been working on. The plan is to image over several nights, rather than attempting it all in one go - even if it takes a month or two.
