Your typical Planet X devotee would try to counter this by saying..."Oh, but it's actually coming straight for us.". The straight and simple answer to that is "it's not a planet, or anything else from the solar system, then.". The reason being that there is no orbit which would allow for this type of geometry. A simple review of conic section would tell you this straight away. An object coming straight at us is traveling along a straight line path...not an orbit, which by definition must be a conic section (normally an ellipse, but in some cases a parabola or hyperbola if it's a long period comet).
If it's coming towards us along a straight line path, I would do either one of two things (depending on what I found out subsequently)....1. Roll out the welcome mat or 2. Go to DefCon 1
