In it's day it was an outstanding eyepiece. Compared to some of the modern offerings, IMO it's a fair eyepiece. The newer eyepices like the 7mm Pentax XW, 7mm Nagler T6 and the 8mm Vixen LVW are a notch superior when compared under good observing conditions in a top quality telescope. By comparison the 7mm Nagler T1 is down on light throughput and contrast, it has more light scatter and has less eye relief. However it is still a very good useable eyepiece and if you don't have the others on hand to do a direct A/B comparison you will enjoy it. If you got value for money it's hard to say. I have seen these go for under $US100 on Astromart but the condition is an unknown. When they were discontinued by Televue about 5 years ago they cleared the last of the stock out for just over $US100 for a new one.
