There is a good reason for that, Neb filters are for nebula, they tend to tone
down unwanted star light, Dust disc of galaxies are mainly made of star
light so your filter will be useless on galaxies. A light polution filter like the
one I mentioned above will be better for you. they let in everything except
artifusal <-- Mmmmm... ummm err.... man made light ie street lighting...etc...etc...
