Generally with meteor showers the best viewing is early hours of the morning Alexandra - when your spot on the Earth is just starting to rotate into the direction that the Earth is moving in its orbit around the sun.
Its probably more a matter of getting up very early rather than staying up late. Will need a spot with good horizons, warm sleeping bag, and good company and hopefully might catch some periods of decent falls
