They lose mass through the loss of energy by sublimating "virtual" particles. Hawking radiation, if you will. What happens is that very near the event horizon and the immediate surrounds of the black hole, the warping of spacetime generates the production of "virtual' particle pairs from the stresses on spacetime around the holes. One of the particles falls into the hole the other escapes, so over time (a very very long time, mind you) the black hole gradually loses energy and therefore mass (in the escaped particles). Eventually, the hole loses so much mass that it basically whittles itself away. Right near the end, the hole becomes unstable and it's believed that it explodes in a burst of gamma rays and other high energy radiation.........that's the theory.
Can she cook...that is an arcane mystery that will only be answered by her and herself alone
