Appears to me though, regardless of the result ... the sentiments you've expressed in this thread indicate that the prizes you've already won from these awards are better than the cash anyway. Yeh 12.5hrs of exposure and near 200kg of gear lugged back and forth by car over three nights...compared to bang! 1/1000 sec ...sheesh, if there was an hourly rate in it I would get the biggest pay check at least. I think we are in the worst effort v result area of science photography, that's for sure
