You lucky man. I have often wanted to see a super bright meteorite. Considering how often I have been out in the night sky it is as you say a rare event. I have not seen one. I have seen thousands of small meteorites.
I did see one at my house about 2 months ago that went slow and looked very bright for a few secs like a firework that was falling slowly. unusual. It must have been coming in at an angle towards me.
