Hello:

My friend at our local church said his brother has a Takahashi 6" refractor telescope mounted on an equatorial Takahashi mount. And altogether it costs over 10 grand. He has his pictures out on ALPO his last name might be Roeder (pronouned like Rayder).

Does anyone here know some of the advantages of this kind of telescope verses a typical Schmidt Cassegrain?

Also I don't have a single refractor telescope yet (except for those finder scopes) you know. And I was wondering if I should probably save money up for a APO refractor maybe?

I heard that the APO's can correct for any 2 of the 3 primary colors. Which ones should I choose?
