David Malin was very impressed too
- considering his image was part of the composition I sent it to him for a look.
The surface brightness of this stuff is very low. It's a lot to do with the camera too, very low read noise at -30C and relatively sensitive plus reasonably careful calibration.
You are quite right, 20hrs with a 12" F3.8 say...would blow your eyes for sure
