I have six credit cards, four debit cards and an overdreft of $80,000. I make $230,000 a year, own 4 flats in London which net me over $170,000 p/a and investments totalling 1.6m and yielding roughly 8%. I own a Porsche, a vintage Ferrari, a 42' Grand Banks and a Ducati 998. I can pick up the phone and talk to the Prime Mininster of Great Britain, The President of Indonesia, Russia and the PM of Japan The chairmans of Shell, BP, Exxon and Texaco, Citibank, Halliburton and BHP all know my name and take my advice.
By any standards I am well-off, prosperous and have a degree of "oompf" that few people can match.
And I would trade EVERYTHING and cut off my limbs if it would make my Spaniel, Gloriana, better. She has kidney failure and will probably not last the week.
All the money in the world, all the measures of success which we so assiduously obtain are as nothing compared to the loss of a loved-one.
I'm very happy for your achievement, Chris. Sorry to be so negative. Few of us get the breaks we deserve and good-on-ya!!!
But amidst all our high-priced aquisitions and achievments, I urge us to remember what really matters: The comfort and companionship of those we love (or like), our family, our pets and even those to whom we can make the slightest positive difference in life.
Hug your loved ones, spare a minute for those less fortunate and comfort the sick and sick at heart. Nothing else really matters.
