I've been reverse lensing with the same lens for a while now. Nos sure I want to butcher it permanently though.
I can tell you that reverse lensing gets you CRAZY close though! But very hard to get critical focus. The DOF is only a millimetre or two.
You can also trick your aperture by pressing and holding the aperture preview button while you disconnect the lens from the camera. The aperture will then stay locked in the chosen stop.
