My 40d is a complete removal, and is used for UV/IR daytime photography, for astro i utilise a astronomik UV IR filter, and i think its a bit more sensitive than with the baader filter in place because i tend to pick up faint dark nebula all the time with it, not that others with modded 40d's don't pick them too, but yeah? don't know but they are always there.
