yes, knowledge is the supreme winner in all discoveries, but most of the data about these exoplanets will be just, oh, theres a rock, oxygen nitrogen water, oh that place looks nice. Lets send a probe there. 3 million years later, cats evolve into vain humanoids, anally clean androids, hologram companions...will humans even be around then to benefit from that knowledge of a compatible planet. and what if there is nothing there, or we were too late and the star has gone supernova. It is great to know that there are other worlds out there and that people are trying to discover "new earths" but in the current technolgical timeframe, that is about all the it is going to be discovery, unless there is serious work going on to develop a craft that could make the journey in at least a human lifespan, then it would be true and physical discovery, not just photons and 1s and 0s.
