Our Sun Mimics Jupiter?

I was doing volunteer work at the weekend, in Victoria's Alpine National Park. Our last task was on top of Mt Murray at about 1600m. Time got away from us, and at some time after 5.00pm, the weather closed in on us, with the sun very low in the sky. Grab the camera!!!

The pictures show the sun setting through cloud and stuff. It was below zero, so it is likely that little ice crystals were suspended doing a bit of refraction. The whole thing was stunning, and a 360° movie around the peak really put the whole thing into perspective. Cant post that though!

My camera is a Cannon Power Shot A2000, point and shoot. Light level was very low, with the 'close ups' being at full zoom, all shots hand held. My old target shooting skills were called into play, with reasonable results.

Work stopped to watch the show, and then continued illuminated by headlights.........! It was great to get back to our accommodation and a seriously warm fire!!
