The devil's galaxy! (Ballarat)

Hi guys,

I just thought some of you would find this little story from Star Camp amusing.

Monday night I had my GoTo all set up shortly after sunset and aligned waiting for dark. Around 1:00am I had been slewing since about 9:00 when a friend (Travis), not an IIS member yet, asked me to slew to NGC666. "I don't know if it exists or if you can see it". Enter the co-ords and press enter. The scope slews around...brrrr....brrr...br..stop.. .brrrrrrrr.....I don't think it is going to stop. Turn the scope off. Battery flat as a tack! Fortunately Darren gave me a loan of his jump start and I was back in action. Prior to "666" the scope had not missed a beat and there was no hint of it packing it in for the night.

Of course Travis asked me to try 666 again...to which he received a resounding "NO, I don't think so!" At 3:30 before packing up for the night I slewed to 666 and it pointed at the tent behind me! At least the battery survived to find it!
