I prefer the HDR route as you can start to introduce noise with the first technique, the benifit though is that you can create a dramatic feeling within your photos with Camera Raw. Especially with Sunset/rise compositions.

I get the impression and I may be wrong that some of you think that I am using a DSLR for these photo's and I am using a Pentax Optio 33L and it doesn't have the features that are being talked about and I can't add filters to the camera my longest exposure time is 4 seconds with this camera. But it does have a filter mode I am not sure if this will achieve anything. I did use a tripod for these shots and used the Sunset/Sunrise setting on the camera.
