My main work is with magnetic induction systems, so yes you are right they can be dangerous but the signal degrades very quickly. A little deceptions on behalf of the media. Fencing placed around danger zones are needed but the diminishing field is quite quick. Also like RF system floros are designed to work effectively and as a result picks up electromagentic radiation as well.
The earths magnetic field is much stronger.
Actually my qualifacations are the RF more so but dealing with induction loops for 14 years now.
