Sketches + Notes 9/5/10

Hi everyone,

It has been quite clear these past days and i have not wasted that time given to me.

Homunculus Nebula- As the transperency and seeing were good i thought this would be a good night to have a go at sketching the homunculus nebula.I used the 6.5mm plossol barlowed 2x which gave me a mag of 277x and i could clearly see the nebula in averted vision. The two lobes looked like 2 wings coming out of eta carinae, they were facing west-east.The east lobe seemed a little larger and brighter.i noticed a bright patch of light in the lower part of the eastern lobe i think this might of been a bright part of the neb or some sort of reflection but when i checked with other eps it was still there.I did not quite fill in all the stars in the sketch.

M53-i came back to this glob and decided to do a sketch. It is quite bright and extremely concetrated.i also did a sketch of were to find this quite interesting glob (attached).

Thanks for viewing and reading
Regards Orestis
