Mike don't compromise on dark skies - you'll regret it.
Maybe you can do a deal with your friends at Kurri Kurri to setup a small observatory. Perhaps a removeable Sirius dome.
Just don't leave your scope there or even the mount. They don't take much to setup.
Dark skies as you know, makes everything easier. Some objects will be
out of your reach from light polluted areas unless you only do narrowband.
Even narrowband works better from dark skies. I have done Ha during moon and no moon at my dark site and there was a veyr noticeable difference and that was with a 5nm Ha filter.
