Hi Karl,
as with many programs that use Dot Net framework 1.1, it needs the specific drivers that are only supplied with this version. Newer versions as I've found don't have what you need with certain software to work.
I suggest, remove the present version of DNF and install the version you need. Then execute/load RC Console, make sure it is shown in the Plugin drop down in Maxim.
Install a latter version of DNF and things should be good.
BTW, I use the RC console and have no dramas by doing the above.
