Well I have never experienced anything like this but do agree Perth is losing it's charm of late especially if you are old and unable to defend yourself or live within 10km of the CBD. I think it is fueled more by people being displaced to feed the ever speculative boom times as more and more people move into the state for work. During the last peak in minning operations people with full time jobs were living in shelters as they could not afford to pay the ridiculous rental rates being demanded. People who would normally be catered for by the shelters were cast out onto the street to fend for themselves. Add to this the ever growing meth market and you have a reciepe for disaster which we are seeing unfold before our eyes. Keeps the morbid tabloids busy though. I do remember the West Australian news paper having the headline "Death by Boom"...I think this pretty much sums it up.
