Stunning photo...one of the nicer ones I've seen taken of Perth.

Allow me to take a stab at where you took that picture from. I'd say that was taken on Mundaring Weir rd, about 200m before the right-hander (Hummerston Rd junction)...about 1.3km up the climb from Piesse Brook.

From where you stood, the big wooden National Forest signs should be in the treeline up ahead and to your right (east), across the rocky area and up into the treeline, there should be a little tree-house (as weird as it sounds).

I reckon you stood at the bottom of the exposed road section on the attached aerial pic...facing North.
